Welcome!

Let me introduce myself, my name is John Loranger, Ed.D, LPC.

I am a highly skilled, sensitive and compassionate life coach and licensed counseling psychotherapist dedicated to providing exceptional care and effective treatment plans for adults and emergency personnel experiencing mental and emotional health issues.   I specialize in grief, anger, anxiety and depression and am experienced in mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and other crisis as a result of mental or physical ailments.

I am an effective listener, motivator, communicator and advocate. One of my primary objectives is to help my clients reach a greater understanding of themselves in a safe, confidential and supportive environment.

It goes without saying that all of my clients are treated with respect, compassion and mindfulness. In return they greatly value a counselor who can listen with a vested interest and without judgement or misconception.

Although counseling is not an exact science, I believe that deep and lasting change is possible at any stage of life. People are infinitely complex beings, each requiring a personalized approach.  To aid in client recovery, I use a spectrum of innovative, evidence-based approaches.  I also encourage you to assume a proactive role in the creation of your own individualized treatment plan.

This type of doctor/client collaboration empowers you to make personal choices regarding your own heath and treatment.  Through ongoing guidance and encouragement, you will develop the necessary skills and insights to reach and maintain hard-won goals.

The work can be frustrating, challenging, and rewarding all at the same time.  However, empowering you to get well and successfully manage your own lives is extraordinarily rewarding for me as well.

❝ People talk about physical fitness, but mental health is equally important. I see people suffering, and their families feel a sense of shame about it, which doesn't help.  One needs support and understanding.

I am now working on an initiative to create awareness

about anxiety and depression and help people. ❞

Embrace your Authentic Self

One of the important lessons I have learned over the years as a Psychotherapist/LPC is that we are constantly bombarded by the media telling us what to do, what clothes to wear, what is politically correct, what products to choose, and sends warnings that we must never fail – as failure is unthinkable. As a culture, we are over-loaded with so many superficial labels that it is nearly impossible to embrace the “Authentic Self,” which is the authentic you at your core and the source of your skills, talents and wisdom.

Failure is the New Awesome!

In reality, I have found that we all fail at one time or another. Failure presents an opportunity to look inward and understand that we cannot always get it right. In real life, these moments provide openings to look at the “bad” and learn something “new” about ourselves.

This in itself takes a certain amount of courage as the journey involves unknown and uncharted territory which may appear scary at the onset.

Failure is the New Awesome

Many back off from this opportunity because they might “Fail.”

But, according to Dr. Alex Lickerman in his new book entitled

The Undefeated Mind, “Failure is the new awesome!”

Helping others find their way on this journey of “the new awesome” and discovery of the Authentic Self helps me fulfill my mission of service as a psychotherapist; it also improves both of our lives!

❝ The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter. ❞

Grief, Depression and Anxiety

I want you to know that while there is no right way to grieve and no magic timeline for grieving, there are secrets to grieving. I can help you re-remember your loved one, cherish the positive memories and keep them in your heart.

Together we can explore the burden of grief, depression and anxiety blocking you from living a fulfilling life. It is a process, and this process can help you get your life back on track. By moving on, you will allow yourself to have new experiences, while keeping your previous ones.

I know firsthand how the preoccupation with sorrow can become chronic ― making it nearly impossible to enjoy life. The good news is that although it may appear hopeless, there is a way.   After all, life is not meant to be impossible, a constant uphill struggle. I am here for you and can help you enjoy life again
